You may be aware that we have been raising funds to repair the chimney on our stunning Grade ii listed preschool and BASC building. We have been awarded a generous grant from The Harpur Trust to help us on our way.

The scaffolding is up and the builders have started work. We were worried that once they got up there the chimney, which has not been touched for many year, it may be in a worse state than previously thought. Unfortunately as is often the case with older buildings this is exactly what turned out to be the case.

The chimney was in a bad way and it was not made of stone the whole way round.

Each change in plan has had to go back to Bedford Borough to make sure we are progressing in keeping with building regulations for our beautiful building. We have had some delay while we source the extra materials for the work as we are limited in what we are permitted to use, once again needing to be signed off. Despite this, we remain positive and know that the end is in sight.
