About Us
Turvey Pre-School Playgroup has been looking after the children of Turvey and surrounding villages since 1969, providing a caring, safe and stimulating learning environment in which children can develop and progress at their own rate with the individual support that they need.
At Turvey Preschool we recognise and value the importance of allowing our children the enriched opportunities to flourish in their own unique ways.
We believe that if a child has a warm and caring environment, allowing them to feel included, encouraged to be independent, to grow in confidence, knowing that they will be listened to and respected, then they will be able to become the best version of themselves.
We understand, respect and adhere to the core principles of the Early Years Foundation Stage:
These principles are:
every child is a unique child, who is constantly learning and can be resilient, capable, confident and self-assured,
children learn to be strong and independent through positive relationships,
children learn and develop well in enabling environments, in which their experiences respond to their individual needs and there is a strong partnership between practitioners and parents and/or carers
children develop and learn in different ways and at different rates.
With these principles in mind, we aim to offer a wide range of experiences to enable our children to learn and develop.
As part of the experiences we offer we also value the importance of the three characteristics of effective teaching and learning and view them highly within our day to day provision.
Which are:
playing and exploring – children investigate and experience things, and ‘have a go,’
active learning – children concentrate, keep on trying if they encounter difficulties and enjoy achievements,
creating and thinking critically – children have and develop their own ideas, make links between ideas, and develop strategies for doing things. We aim to be a positive, enriched and knowledgeable ‘learning through play environment. We have a strong team of experienced staff members who can offer a varied array of experiences for each of our children. We will also ensure that our children are valued as the unique super stars they are. Their experiences will convey our understanding. We will provide our children with a memorable, enjoyable, warm and unique early years experience.
