Before and After School Club 

Turvey Before and After School Clubs provide care and activities for children aged 3 years upwards. 

The clubs primarily meet the needs of children and families attending Turvey Primary School and Turvey Pre-school and run during term-time only. 

We offer high quality care with friendly, welcoming staff, and child-led activities. At our clubs, the children’s happiness and welfare is our priority. The children have access to a range of activities, toys and equipment and can enjoy free play, choosing what they want to do. The children are free to play indoors and outdoors at all times of year. We have a play area to the rear of our building and a garden area to the front.  If possible, we also visit the local park. 

Messy activities may sometimes be part of what the children choose to do. This may include painting, glue, mud kitchen and water play. We do offer aprons/tabards to go over clothes and encourage children to take care of their clothes. If you wish, you can send a change of clothes for your child to play in. 

The children are supervised at all times by our experienced team, who are there to support the children as needed. We encourage the children to have a voice in their club and include them in any discussions and decisions when needed. This could include rules and boundaries, activities to do in future and possible new purchases. We encourage and support them in resolving any issues should they occur. 

We encourage healthy eating at our clubs through the snacks we provide and we can also cater for special dietary needs as required. 

Breakfast Club opens at 7:45am.  During Breakfast Club children will be offered Breakfast which is available until 8:15 am (toast, healthier cereal, milk/water to drink. This is included in the cost. 

A light snack will be offered at our After School club, (Bread, Cheese, Ham, cucumber, pepper) 

The clubs are governed by Playwork Principles which support a child’s right to play and to direct their own play.  The clubs are registered with Ofsted and we have good links with Bedford Borough Council.  

All of our team have training in paediatric first aid, Advanced safeguarding and behaviour management and we take up or seek opportunities to review and develop what we do as required.  We believe this enhances the quality of what we offer.   

The After School Club is open until 5:30pm on Monday to Friday, with a shorter stay possible until 4 30pm if preferred.  Turvey Primary School children are collected by ‘walking bus’, with pre-school children joining us on this as in the morning.  A light snack is on offer at this session.  Costs for this club are £5.60 per hour for regular bookings and £6.10 per hour for ad hoc (from April  2024).  Costs include snack.
